Welcome To
Bynden Wood Day Camp

Surrounded by nature, Bynden Wood’s outdoor mountaintop facility provides campers with a unique summer camp experience.
The Day Camp hours are from 8:30am to  4:15pm, Monday-Friday. Bynden Wood’s programming is based on the four core values of the YMCA (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility) along with the promotion of safety, fun, education, and individuality.

Although our camp is run predominately outdoors, there are indoor spaces available in the event of inclement weather.
Campers are divided into tribes by age with a minimum of one counselor to eight camper ratio. Tribes travel together throughout the day to all program areas. The programs are structured to provide a wide variety of activities for each tribe to explore.

OVERNIGHTS
Overnights are offered every Thursday  for campers of all ages.
Overnights include a cookout dinner over the fire, night activities that are age specific, outdoor or indoor sleeping space depending on weather. We will provide all overnight campers with breakfast and lunch on Friday.
The cost of an overnight is $25 per child. Space is limited so sign up early to ensure availability.

STAFF
The quality of the program is directly related to the quality of the staff.
At South Mountain YMCA, our standard is excellence. We carefully select and train our counselors to serve as positve role models and leaders in the camp community.
Our dedicated, caring counselors are focused on providing a safe environment in which campers can learn and grow.
Our staff are led by some of the strongest and most experienced leaders in the camping field. Staff undergo an intensive one week training period and all receive CPR and First Aid training.
We also have a licensed nurse on property for medical needs.

LIT PROGRAM (LEADERS IN TRAINING)
The LIT program is for campers age 14. This is a great way for teens to develop leadership skills in the camp setting.
We offer an opportunity for campers to learn from veteran staff while developing the skills necessary to be positive members of the camping community and leaders at home.
The program empasizes the four core values of the YMCA (Caring, Respect, Honesty, Responsibility).
