The Alumni Association is made up of a dedicated group of individuals who, as a result of their connection to the summer camps and other programs of SMYMCA, wish to renew or maintain this connection.

The Alumni Association provides members opportunities to:

Communicate with other alumni Attend Alumni Association-sponsored events Volunteer for Association and other related YMCA events Support the YMCA through various fund-raising and other special event activities Remain an active and interested alumni who wants to "Keep the Fires Burning" Association Membership

Any person who has participated in the programs offered by the South Mountain YMCA is considered an Alumni Association member. There is no membership fee required. The primary goal of the Association is to maintain a network of interested and active alumni who may enjoy the opportunities provided by the Association.

Keeping In Touch

This Alumni Association page provides a variety of methods that will help maintain your connection now that you have found it. The Alumni Association also wants to keep you informed by offering several publications. We will periodically feature nostalgic pieces that may spark memories from your time on the mountain. We will highlight the traditions and events of camp, like "Officer of the Day" and the "Prayer of a Camper" that continue to this day.

We hope that you will continue to support the South Mountain YMCA and the programs provided by the Camp Conrad Weiser Outdoor Center. Providing positive references for others who are considering sending young people to our camps and becoming an active participant in all of our camp-related programs will help us to...

..."Keep The Fires Burning."

60th Anniversary Celebration

The alumni committee, headed up by Karin Allmendinger, has been working to plan a great event for Saturday, August 9 to Sunday, August 10, 2008. The afternoon will kick off at 1:00 PM with program areas open. You will have the opportunity to take horseback rides, channel swim at the pool, shoot at the archery and riflery ranges, play sports on the A-Field, climb to high heights at the climbing tower, enjoy hayrde tours, and entertain your children at the kids corner. The memory hall at Bynden Wood Lodge will be open all afternoon, with a reception at 5:00PM. A banquet will be held in the dining hall at 6:00PM followed by flag lowering and a reunion campfire.

Families will have the opportunity to stay the night in the beautiful new cabins, pitch their own tent, find a lean-to or book a local hotel. Sunday morning will begin bright and early with a polar bear swim followed by flag raising and breakfast at 8:00AM. A chapel service will be held at our newly renovated chapel, followed by a horse show. A chicken barbeque will end the weekend at noon.

Registration materials will be mailed in May and will also be available on line.

Make plans now to join us for this exciting weekend as we celebrate 60 years of camping excellence!
